GREEN KEY

We are very proud to announce that Cliff Hotel & Spa has acquired the GREEN KEY environmental / sustainable label in 2021, thus co-creating the green story of sustainable tourism in our destination.

Some time ago, the management and employees of HOTEL CLIFF decided to upgrade their existing GREEN POLICY, formally place it in our business and, through international standards, check our sustainable operation, namely through the certification process for obtaining the sustainable certificate GREEN KEY and, subsequently, the certificate ZSST - Slovenia Green - GREEN ACCOMMODATION.

WHAT IT GREEN KEY?

The green key is the environmental / sustainable label, the leading standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable operation in the tourism industry.

This prestigious eco-label means the commitment of companies to comply with the strict criteria set by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in certified facilities. The environmental/sustainable label The Green Key assures all guests that by choosing a certified tourist facility, they are directly contributing to the protection of the environment.

IZVEDI VEČ

OUR GOALS FOR 2022/23 WERE AS FOLLOWS:

  • raising awareness among guests about organic/local foods,
  • the inclusion of vegan dishes in the menu,
  • raising staff awareness of alternative forms of transport.

We can proudly announce we accomplished all three goals!

POWER SAVING

How can you help?

  • Use natural ventilation instead of the air conditioning system.
  • In summer, close the shutters when you leave your room. This will contribute to a lower temperature.
  • Turn off the lights when you no longer need them.
  • If you open or leave your windows ajar, the air conditioning system in your room will automatically shut down.

DIFFERENTIATED WASTE SEPARATION

For the common well-being and the protection of the environment, we sort our waste.

  • Use the separate waste bins located in the room, the corridors of all floors and at the Reception Desk. The bins are clearly visually labelled for separate collection of packaging, paper and glass.
  • Bring your hazardous waste (batteries, medicines, sprays, light bulbs...) to your maid or to the Reception Desk.
  • Prevent generation of waste and use products in reusable containers or no packaging.
  • If you are in doubt about where the waste belongs, we will be happy to help you.

WATER SAVING

  • Save water, especially hot water. Water heating places a significant burden on the environment and consumes large quantities of energy.
  • Take shorter showers (2 min).
  • Close the tap during shaving, brushing your teeth and washing your hair.
  • Our tap water is safe to drink!
  • Be aware of any leaks in the toilet cistern, the taps and shower. Please notify the Reception Desk immediately if you identify any.
  • Do not throw any sanitary pads, toiletries or any other waste in the toilet as it can result in its blockage and excessive water consumption.

TOWEL AND BEDDING REPLACEMENT

Laundry accounts for a significant percentage of water usage in the hospitality industry and burdens the environment due to the high consumption of water and use of washing agents. Your bedding will be replaced every fourth day of your stay, more frequently only upon request.

  • Use your towels more than once.If you want to reuse them, leave them on their hangers.
  • If you do not want your bedding replaced every fourth day of your stay, please notify the Reception Desk.

NOTEWORTHY

  •  At the Kamin Restaurant, we favour seasonal dishes and local suppliers. All dishes are enhanced with our own olive oil from the Belvedere Hill.
  • Particular attention is given to the choice of suppliers, giving priority to those who respect nature.
  • We encourage and inform guests about the use of public transport (bus, train…) instead of their own vehicle, as this reduces the carbon footprint.
  • We educate our employees to act sustainably and contribute to the reduction of negative impacts on the environment.

There is still a lot of work ahead of us, and therefore, we kindly ask you to give us your suggestions, questions and ideas. We will be grateful for your feedback!
